PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. and SAN DIEGO, May 31, 2013 -- General Dynamics NASSCO, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), announced today that it has entered into a contract with an affiliate of American Petroleum Tankers (APT), a company majority owned by funds managed by Blackstone on behalf of its investors, for the design and construction of four 50,000 deadweight ton LNG-conversion-ready product carriers with a 330,000 barrel cargo capacity. The contract includes options to build four additional ships.

New York, May 28, 2013. The Park Hill Group, a division of Blackstone (NYSE:BX), today announced that Pablo Calo has joined its secondary advisory business as a Managing Principal, based in London. This business delivers liquidity and capital solutions to private equity investors and managers.

Blackstone (NYSE:BX) today announced an agreement with Credit Suisse to acquire Strategic Partners, Credit Suisse’s dedicated secondary private equity business with $9 billion in assets under management. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close by the end of the third quarter 2013. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

BEIJING, April 21, 2013 – Blackstone founder Stephen A. Schwarzman today announced a $100 million (¥600 million) personal gift to build and endow an elite scholarship program in China inspired by the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship program created in 1902 by British statesman Cecil J. Rhodes. A simultaneous fundraising campaign with a goal of raising $200 million (¥1.2 billion) will make the program the largest charitable effort in China’s history with funds coming largely from outside the country. The “Schwarzman Scholars” program will be housed at Tsinghua University in Beijing, one of China’s most prestigious universities, dedicated to academic excellence and integrity, and the interaction between Chinese and Western cultures.

Blackstone in partnership with CityView today announced that construction has begun for the final phase of Barker Block, a residential community in the Arts District of downtown Los Angeles. The final phase will convert an original Angeleno warehouse into 68 state-of-the-art lofts and townhomes for a total of 72,451 square feet. When finished, Barker Block will comprise 309 condo units.

San Francisco, March 25, 2013. UNITE HERE Local 2 and Hilton San Francisco Union Square today announced a contract settlement in advance of the August 2013 expiration of the current collective bargaining agreement. The new contract will run from August 14, 2013 through August 13, 2018. Hilton hotel workers ratified the agreement Friday, March 15.
