Blackstone Portfolio Company Cylance named to CNBC’s “Disruptor 50” List

Blackstone portfolio company Cylance, a cyber security firm focused on preventative endpoint protection, was ranked ninth on CNBC’s “Disruptor 50” list, which honors private companies across industries whose innovations are “changing the world.”

The company’s pioneering approach to cyber security, which applies artificial intelligence and machine leaning to predict threats, gives it a distinct advantage over the more traditional reaction-based methods used in the industry.

This capability allowed Cylance to play a key role in discovering and ultimately stopping malware that led to the 2015 Office of Personnel Management data breach. A congressional report noted that Cylance “immediately found malware and set about cleaning OPM's enterprise,” after put to use following the hack.

Cylance remains well positioned as a leader against future attacks, with a test showing that their products fully prevent the malware used in the recent WannaCry and WanaCrypt0r 2.0 attacks, which have devastated systems across the globe.
